Shaffer, Peter

Shaffer, Peter
(b. 1925)
   English dramatist. He was born in Liverpool, and first worked as a coalminer. He spent some time in the US, where he worked at the New York Public Library. Later he was active as a literary and music critic in London. His play The Salt Land is set in a kibbutz in Israel. In Yonadah he adapted The Rape of Tamar by Dan Jacobson.
